The glorious long sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast are just 40 mins away as well as the delightful port of La Rochelle that boasts probably some of the best seafood restaurants around and steeped in local history. The massive indoor aquarium is spectacular, and always a hit with children.

Other attractions like Futuroscope, Puy du Fou, La Palymre zoo and the brandy houses at Congac are all easy day trips

With the plains & marshes to the south of Fontenay and the massive Vouvant-Mervent forrest and bocage to the north makes this an ideal centre for cycling, walking, horse riding, fishing, bird watching, sailing, boating for families of all ages. There are a number of very high quality golf courses built to competition standard less than 1 hour away
