There is a varied assortment of things to do in the area to entertain all the family. |

A multitude of footpaths cycle, tracks on the Marais Poitevin and the Vouvant-Mervent forest with plenty of picnic areas, you can also hack around the forest and Vouvant village on horseback. |

The lake at Mervent has a man-made beach and sailing and boating is also available, take your fishing tackle (daily permits can be bought for a few Euros. |

Just over 30 mins drive you can spend the day on the glorious long sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast. You can stop in quaint unspoiled fishing villages or head for the traditional and more commercialised larger costal towns which ever you prefer. |

Just over an hours drive is “La Grande Parcour” at Puy du Fou, a vast historical theme park where there are an assortment of shows depicting the history of the Vendee as well as mythical legends. Spectacular demonstrations of falconry and chariot racing in a replica Roman coliseum. Until recently this was probably the Vendees best kept secret!! |

Again about an 1.5 hours drive there is Futuroscope a futuristic technology park with 360° cinemas and many other technology base shows and demonstrations, Guaranteed to to keep the family amused! |

Just too many things to mention on one page! If you are coming for a” holiday” then you can just relax, enjoy a glass of wine or two! Eat in the local restaurants and generally chill out in this peaceful area of France. |
